Visit the Magical Pilliga Pottery

Pilliga Pottery makes unique Australian pottery that you can buy online or purchase when you visit. The pottery is part of Barkala Farm, a working farm situated on the edge of the Pilliga forest.

All pottery is handmade on site by a team of highly skilled artisan potters and artists.  Designs are original and individually done, by freehand. This means each piece is unique. Visitors to the workshop are welcome to watch free demonstrations. The pottery itself was started 30 years ago when German immigrants Richard and Maria Rickert started in a mudbrick shed. The pottery is now managed by Maria and her eldest son Johannes and has grown to one of the most fantastic attractions in the Coonabarabran area.

Best known for the Superb Blue Wren motif, Pilliga Pottery creates ceramics of all designs with incredible detail and bright colourful glazes. They have supplied pottery specially created for weddings, restaurants and special events and they will work with you to make something that lasts into the future and represents your ideas and desires.

Why not book a night’s stay at Barkala Farm, enjoy breakfast in the Blue Wren Cafe and then time in the workshop watching this special ceramic being formed. Afterwards you can wander the shop, or put in an order for something to be specially made. Pilliga Pottery’s items make fantastic gifts!

Can’t visit yet? Check out the online shop and put in an order.
