Your creations will then go through the same process as all our professional pieces. They are initially stored in a dark drying room for up to four weeks. Then, they are glazed and fired in a kiln at up to 1060 degrees for four days.

Freedom Wheel/Rent the Wheel
If you’re like 90% of of visitors, the first thing that springs to mind when we offer private rental of a wheel is the movie “Ghost.”
We’ve shared countless laughs with visitors, who have had fun re-enacting this scene, and also had many professional photographers conduct romantic photoshoot’s in our workshop.
More serious potters have created beautiful works of art using our wheels, and families love hiring the pottery wheel, as children of all ages participate in pottery making in a less structured way.
Book your spot to enjoy the cool, earthy feeling of clay spinning through your fingers – you may not come out with a masterpiece at the end, but we are sure you will love this experience.
* If you are staying with us for two nights, and haven’t used a potter’s wheel before, we recommend taking a wheel workshop, before renting a wheel.
We also offer the option of trimming, clear glazing and firing your finished pieces ( $12 each). We will notify you when your Pottery is ready for collection, or we can post it to you (postage has an additional charge). The whole process takes approximately six to eight week from the day of your workshop.

In our plate glazing workshop, guests receive a fired pottery plate to decorate and will be guided through the glazing process with our experienced ceramic artists.
We have numerous colour glazes to choose from and provide paintbrushes to apply the glaze. You will be intrigued to learn that some of the glazes you apply are an entirely different colour to the end result.
What makes this even more special is how the different colours interact with each other during the firing process. They melt together, forming new colours and patterns along the boundary. Often the finished product is a bright and colourful surprise to the artist (many don’t recognise their own artwork).
Your designs are only limited by your imagination! Some of our favourite patterns include swirls, patchwork, love hearts and even a pirate butterfly.
The glazes are all food safe and dishwasher safe, and your shiny finished product can take pride of place in your kitchen.
For a holistic experience, we recommend booking both a clay creation workshop and a glazing workshop as they offer two very different sides of pottery making.
