At any time you will find that many of the people you meet at Barkala Farm have come from somewhere in the world else to help out. They could be part of the WWOOFer movement where organic farms like Barkala Farm offer food, training and accommodation in exchange for manual labour. Then there’s the HELPX guys who come to do basically the same thing as the WWOOFers and work in the cafe, the pottery and all around the farm.
So don’t be surprised if you are met by a bright young face with an accent from a far off land who will show you to your room and explain the activities. Maybe you can learn some of their language and customs while you stay.
